PRA Training Courses and Events – Even Better Value

PRA Training Courses and Events are better value than ever thanks to the relative weakness of the Pound against the Euro and Dollar and a reduction in UK Value Added Tax. Prices for all UK based events have been reduced. See the training calendar and Predicting the Service Life of Organic Coatings for some examples of the new prices.

Irfab Multi-client Study: Specialist and Functional Architectural Coatings Market 2008–2018

Specialist and Functional Architectural Coatings Market 2008-2018

The Specialist and Functional Architectural Coatings Market study will be the first of its kind on the European and Middle Eastern Markets providing a unique source of data and insights on this fragmented sector. It is intended to concentrate on the architectural coatings with functional properties.

The study will bring you the benefit of this vital information base when formulating your global strategies – from technology to marketing. It will enable you to identify both the threats from competing technologies and future opportunities. Thus, the report will represent a reference guide for your long term strategic planning and provides a basis for more detailed segmental analysis.

The scope of the study will include Industrial, Commercial, Institutional, Residential, and Recreational Buildings. Systems with additional functional purposes to the expected aesthetic and protective properties of coatings will be described in the study. Whilst an overview will be given on the global market for architectural and decorative coatings, analysis of standard interior paints, and Do It Yourself ‘DIY’ market will not be included.

PRA Multi-client Evaluation: EU Decorative Gloss Paints for 2010

PRA Multi-client Evaluation: EU Decorative Gloss Paints for 2010

Background

The deadline for implementation of Phase II of the EU Paint Products Directive, 2004/42/EEC is 1 January, 2010. This Directive sets VOC emission limits for different product categories of decorative paint. The product category where the legislation will have the most impact is "Interior and exterior trim and cladding paints for wood and metal" or, in brief, "Gloss Paint".

Benefits

The project will provide a comprehensive independent performance evaluation of products formulated to be compliant with the new 2010 VOC limits. This will give subscribers timely benchmarking data versus competition.

Subject to satisfactory performance, commercial products will eligible for inclusion on the Master Painters Institute (MPI) & PRA European Approved Product List.

It is intended to evaluate all of the available technologies including:-

  • High Solids alkyds
  • Alkyd Emulsions
  • Acrylic Emulsions
  • Acrylic/alkyd and Acrylic/air-cure hybrids
  • Acrylic/Polyurethane Emulsions

The Process

This study is open to raw material suppliers, paint manufacturers and distributors who wish to have products evaluated. Participants are invited to submit 1 litre sample(s) of 2010 compliant white gloss paint for inclusion in the comparative testing project.

PRA will test all samples submitted on a comparative basis for performance in laboratory and practical application properties. Test results and technology types will be reported anonymously for each paint: suppliers will only know the identities of their own samples.

The testing schedule will include Compositional Comparisons, Laboratory Tests and Application Properties (tested on a primed, interior moulded door)
